General questions

How does my student find out who their academic advisor is?
Generally, a faculty member who teaches your student’s major will be his/her advisor. Students should find out who their advisors are during new student orientation.

How do I find out what grades my student made each semester?
Averett assumes all traditional undergraduate students to be dependent on their parents; All grades, transcripts and schedules are available to students on IQWeb through the link on Averett's Web page. The Registrar's Office will no longer mail out grades. Parents wishing to view student grades should ask students to print a copy of grades from the web site. Access to this web site is restricted to students with an assigned user name and password. Parents who are unable to obtain such information may fax a signed request tot he Registrar's Office at (434) 799-0658.

Is there Internet access in all of the dorm rooms?
Yes. All of the dorms have Internet access through a dial-up connection. Student Internet access in the dorms is based on Ethernet Technology. In addition, the Mary B. Blount Library is wireless, which allows students to take their laptops and connect to the Internet.

If my student is unable to bring a computer to school are there computer labs available?
Yes. There are eight campus computer labs that are equipped with the latest hardware and software technologies. Labs are located in various campus locations to provide easy access for students. High-speed access to the Internet is available in the computer labs through three T1 connections.
