Student Government Association

About SGA

The Student Government Association of Averett University is composed of all currently enrolled full-time Averett students. Each spring the student body elects the SGA Executive Board & Senators following the guidelines and procedures outlined in the SGA Constitution and By-laws . The SGA promotes student involvement in the governance of Averett. The SGA also strives to enhance the campus community through sponsoring of social, educational, cultural, and recreational programs, and provide effective communication channels between students and the University.

The SGA is under the advisement of the Director of Activities Joey Wilkerson. The 2006-2007 SGA President is Ebony Johnson.

  • Our Mission:
    The mission of the Student Government Association (SGA) of Averett is to serve as a voice for student concerns and ideas, and to increase student involvement in clubs and activities on campus. The SGA will keep in close communication with faculty, staff, and administration to ensure a positive, well-rounded experience for Averett students.
  • Our Purpose:
    The Student Government Association is organized to give each student a sense of personal responsibility and allow for numerous opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities during their academic tenure at Averett. The SGA provides the students of Averett self-government through their elected representatives.
