Step 7: Write and Document Sources
Write your literature review, analysis and conclusions,
allowing time for revision of the first draft. Present statistics
or data you have gathered from original research or database searches.
Document all sources that contribute to your understanding of the
topic and to your conclusions. Limit direct quotations to brief
passages.
Using a citation style guide recommended by your professor, such
as MLA or APA, cite sources in your text and at the end of the paper.
In MLA style, cite sources according to instructions in the 5th
edition (1999) of the MLA
Handbook for Writers of Research Papers. The Modern Language
Association provides some online guidelines under "MLA Style"
on the MLA
home page. In
APA style, cite electronic
sources according to instructions in the 5th edition (2001)
of the Publication
Manual of the American Psychological Association.
Tip: Your audience for an oral presentation will appreciate
a printed list of sources.
Assets: report or term paper | in text references | bibliography
