Main Campus

The Main Campus is on West Main St. (Route 293 South) between Danville Regional Medical Center and Ballou Park Shopping Center. The Admissions
House (English Hall) is located at 334 West Main (adjacent to the Blount Library).

Construction continues on our campus and in the community. Parking is available in designated lots on campus and throughout the residential areas of campus except where signs are posted as “Parking By Permit Only” as these are spaces designated for residents of Danville.

From Washington, D.C. area:
I-66 West to Rt. 29 South

or:
Follow I95 S to Petersburg, VA. (Note: Do NOT take I295 in Richmond, VA or you will miss the exit for I85.) Just south of Petersburg, take the I85 S Exit. Follow I85 S to South Hill, VA. In South Hill, take US58 W towards Danville. Follow US58 W into town, and take the SR86 S/Central Blvd Exit. Proceed on SR86 S, then take the Route 293/West Main Street Exit. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Route 293 S/West Main Street. Follow West Main Street approximately 6 blocks. Averett University is located at 420 W. Main Street.

From the North:
I-81 South to Staunton, VA;
I-64 East to Charlottesville, VA;
Rt. 29 South to Danville, VA

Charlottesville, VA area: Follow US29 S to Danville. Approximately 5 miles north of the Danville city limits, take the 29 S Business/Blairs/Danville Exit, NOT the 29 S Bypass. Once in Danville, US29 S will become SR86 S. Proceed on SR86 S, then take the Route 293/West Main Street Exit. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Route 293 S/West Main Street. Follow West Main Street approximately 6 blocks. Averett University is located at 420 W. Main Street.

From the South:
Raleigh, NC area: Take I40 W to Hillsborough, NC. Just before Hillsborough, take the SR86 N Exit. Pass through Downtown Hillsborough. Follow the signs to stay on SR86 N. Proceed on SR86 N into Danville. Once in Danville, take the Route 293/West Main Street Exit. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Route 293 S/West Main Street. Follow West Main Street approximately 6 blocks. Averett University is located at 420 W. Main Street.

Greensboro, NC area: Follow US29 N to Danville. Take the SR86/South Main Street Exit. Turn left at the end of the ramp onto SR86 N/South Main Street. Proceed on SR86 N, then take the Route 293/West Main Street Exit. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Route 293 S/West Main Street. Follow West Main Street approximately 6 blocks. Averett University is located at 420 W. Main Street.

Charlotte, NC area: Take I85 N towards Greensboro, NC. In Greensboro, merge onto I40 (I85). Take exit 127 towards US29/US70/US220/Reidsville. Bear left to merge onto US29 N. Continue on US29 N into Danville. Take the SR86/South Main Street Exit. Turn left at the end of the ramp onto SR86 N/South Main Street. Proceed on SR86 N, then take the Route 293/West Main Street Exit. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Route 293 S/West Main Street. Follow West Main Street approximately 6 blocks. Averett University is located at 420 W. Main Street

From the East:
Richmond, VA area: Follow US360 W to South Boston. In South Boston, take US58 W to Danville. Follow US58 W into town, and take the SR86 S/Central Blvd Exit. Proceed on SR86 S, then take the Route 293/West Main Street Exit. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Route 293 S/West Main Street. Follow West Main Street approximately 6 blocks. Averett University is located at 420 W. Main Street.

Tidewater area: Follow US58 W to Danville. Once in Danville, take the SR86 S/Central Blvd Exit. Proceed on SR86 S, then take the Route 293/West Main Street Exit. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Route 293 S/West Main Street. Follow West Main Street approximately 6 blocks. Averett University is located at 420 W. Main Street.

From the West:
I-40 East to Greensboro, NC;
Rt. 29 North to Danville, VA
or:
I-81 North to Wytheville, VA;
I-77 South to Hillsville, VA;
Rt. 58 East to Danville, VA

Roanoke area: Take US220 S towards Martinsville, VA. US220 becomes US58, then turn right (east) to continue on US58. Follow US58 E into Danville. Proceed into town and take the Business US29 S/SR86 S/Central Boulevard/Downtown Exit. Merge onto SR86 S. Proceed on SR86 S, then take the Route 293/West Main Street Exit. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Route 293 S/West Main Street. Follow West Main Street approximately 6 blocks. Averett University is located at 420 W. Main Street.

Outside Virginia: Take US58 E into Danville. Proceed into town and take the Business US29 S/SR86 S/Central Boulevard/Downtown Exit. Merge onto SR86 S. Proceed on SR86 S, then take the Route 293/West Main Street Exit. Turn right at the end of the ramp onto Route 293 S/West Main Street. Follow West Main Street approximately 6 blocks. Averett University is located at 420 W. Main Street.

If you need more specific directions, call the Campus Visit Coordinator at Averett who can provide written directions as well as recommend hotels and bed and breakfast inns within the area.

Once you arrive in Danville, follow the green Averett College signs to the campus on West Main Street. Parking is available campus-wide. Public parking on the street is available except for the areas designated "Parking by Permit Only.

Grant Athletic and Convocation Center
From the North
From Rt. 29 follow Rt. 29 Business into Danville. Proceed through town and take the Piedmont Drive Exit. At the third light, take a right onto Mount Cross Road. The entrance to the North Campus will be less than a mile on your left.

From the East
From Rt. 58 proceed through town. After the overpass for Rt. 29, take the next right onto Mount Cross Road. Go straight through two lights past Piedmont Mall (on your right). The entrance to the North Campus will be less than a mile on your left.

From the South
From Rt. 29 follow 29 Business into town. Stay to the left on Memorial Drive. At the light at the bottom of the hill take a left across the Robertson Bridge. Continue straight. Take a left at the third light onto Mount Cross Road. The entrance to the North Campus will be less than a mile on your left.

From Rt. 86 continue straight and take the Piedmont Drive Exit. At the third light take a right onto Mount Cross Road. The entrance to the North Campus will be less than a mile on your left.

From the West
From Rt. 58 pass John Hoover Honda and take the next left onto Piedmont Drive. Take a left at the third light onto Mount Cross Road. The entrance to the North Campus will be less than a mile on your left.

From Averett's Main Campus, 420 West Main St.
Follow Mountain View Ave. down the hill. (The road will curve to the right about one block past the perimeter of campus and become Primrose Place—follow this to the stoplight). Take a left at the stoplight onto Memorial Drive. Take a right at the second stoplight crossing Robertson Bridge. Continue straight. Take a left at the third light onto Mount Cross Road. The entrance to the North Campus will be less than a mile on your left.

The Averett Equestrian Center:
Route 86 South from the Averett Main Campus to just over the Virginia/North Carolina state line. Turn right onto Shady Grove Road and follow several miles to Gammon Rd. Turn left onto Gammon and follow signs to the center. Take the first left up the gravel road to the lower barn parking lot.

From Route 29 North (from Greensboro, NC). Take the Route 700 exit and turn right onto Route 700 which will turn into Shady Grove Rd. Turn right onto Gammon road and follow signs to barn.

Averett University Flight Center
The Aviation Facility is located at the Danville Regional Airport:

From the Main Campus: Follow West Main St. (north) to Central Boulevard. Turn left onto Central Boulevard (north) and over the Dan River. Take Route 58 East exit and follow to Airport Rd. Turn right onto Airport Rd. The Averett flight center is on the left after parking lot.

From Route 58 West: Turn left onto Airport Road. The Averett flight center is on the left just after the parking lot.
