Veterans, Graduate, Transfer & International Students
Graduate Students
Graduate students may apply for Federal Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford Loans, and for Federal Work-Study employment. Qualified graduate students pursuing masters other awards offered through the university and the Graduate School. Apply through the Financial Aid Office. Graduate fellowships, grants, tuition benefits, tuition waivers, or health benefits must count as resources for students who apply for financial aid. Therefore, federal loan and work eligibility may be reduced if graduate benefits are received. Contact financial aid office or your particular graduate department for more information about graduate aid. Graduate students are not eligible for Federal Pell Grant.
Veterans
The V.A. Coordinator located in the Registrar’s Office coordinates veterans Assistance Programs. Veterans’ Educational Benefits must be considered a resource in calculating your eligibility for financial aid and must be reported by you to the Financial Aid Office. After the semester begins, and your enrollment has been confirmed, you will be required to provide a letter confirming the amount of your veterans’ benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs. International Students
Most federal and institutional need-based aid requires U.S. citizenship or eligible non-citizenship. Students who are entering the country on student visas should contact the Office or visit their website for information concerning admissions criteria and possible financial aid sources.
Study Abroad
Students have the opportunity to study abroad at Averett University. Students must receive approval by the Dean of Arts and Sciences. See the Financial Aid Office for availability of student aid.
Transfer Students
Financial aid cannot be transferred from one institution to another. If you plan to transfer mid-year to Averett, you must:
1) Contact both the Averett Financial Aid Office and the financial aid office at the institution you currently attend to inform both of your intention to transfer. Assure that Averett has a copy of your FAFSA of file, and if not obtain instructions for having a copy release to Averett.
2) If receiving any Federal Family Educational Loans (Federal Stafford Subsidized/Unsubsidized Stafford, Federal PLUS) for the year, you must contact institution and lender to cancel spring disbursement. You must reapply for the loan for the spring at Averett.
