Q: "I've lost/forgotten/never received my e-mail/IQWeb or blackboard passwords, how do I get them?"
A: Fill out this form or contact The Computer Center and they will e-mail it to the alternate e-mail you provided them or make other arrangements with you on how to get your password.
Q: "My computer is running really slow and in task manager and in my startup bar I see programs I don't recognize. What are they and how do I get rid of them."
A: If you have a PC from a major manufacturer (i.e. Dell, Gateway, etc.), you will have some of their factory installed programs that run in the background. There are also some system processes that you will see that you may not recognize too. However, there are some processes though that are installed without your knowledge and these are called Spyware or Malware. You should try to remove these (i.e. GATOR, GAIM, New.Net Domains, Savenow, etc.) through the Add/Remove tool in Windows and reboot first. If there are still some present, you can get a program called Ad-aware in our downloads section that will scan for these kinds of programs. Some free programs, screen saver, etc. may stop working when you remove the items that Ad-aware may find. If they do, you probably should not be using them anyway, but you can just re-install them if you must have them. For any further assistance you can call the Computer Center Help Desk at ext. 5720.

Q: "My printer doesn't try to print when i send it a print job. Why?"
A: It could be that your drivers are corrupted. Delete the printer and reinstall it using the latest drivers from the manufacture's website.

Q: "When I am surfing the web I get all these "Debug" errors and "Script" errors. What is wrong?"
A: First, go to Tools and then click on Internet Options in Internet Explorer. Click on the Advanced tab and look under the category of Browsing. There should be a a check box that reads Disable script debugging. It is probably not checked so click to check it and then click Apply. Click Ok and then restart Internet Explorer. Now, if your are getting the "Script" errors you probably just need to update your Internet Explorer. You can do that at Microsoft's Windows Update.

Q: "My Anti-Virus says it caught a virus. What do I do?"
A: Quarantine it and go along your merry way. If your Anti-Virus is telling you it caught it than it already had the definitions for the virus. You can run a full scan if you still fill uncomfortable though. However, if you just updated your virus definitions and it finds one, you should write the name of the virus down and go here to get the removal tool for that specific virus. If there is no removal tool you should probably call the computer center, but if you still think you can handle it on your own look up information on the virus here and follow the removal instructions.
