Approved Software Computers allocated to personnel employed by Averett University remain the property of Averett and as such are subject to Averett’s rules for network usage. They are not personal machines on which the user can install software which has not been evaluated by Averett’s IT department. Due to security concerns and licensing issues this policy will be enforced by Averett’s IT department, and department supervisors are responsible for the content on their worker’s machines. Each machine deployed to a user should include a basic software install that includes an office suite of programs and any specialized programs allocated to that particular user. The following is a list of APPROVED and UNAPPROVED software. If you do not see the software you wish to install under the APPROVED section, then the software should be considered UNAPPROVED and you should contact the Computer Center. If you have software that you would like to be evaluated and approved, submit it to the Computer Center for testing and evaluation. The Computer Center reserves the right to remove any unapproved software from any computer owned by the University or connected to its network. APPROVED:

UNAPPROVED software is usually known spyware or causes known issues with other software such as Outlook, PowerCampus, Internet Explorer, or even Windows itself.
