Campus
Main Campus (420 West Main St., Danville, Va.)
Averett's main academic buildings and residence halls are located on a 19-acre
campus in the midst of a tree-lined neighborhood. Averett's eight residence
halls offer traditional residence-hall style accommodations as well as suites
and apartment-style living.
Main Campus facilities also include academic buildings, an art building and pottery
area, a 630-seat auditorium, a music center and a library. Six tennis courts
and a gymnasium are also available. The student center, completed in 2006, is a central gathering place on campus and includes a dining hall, outdoor deck, offices for student clubs, a coffee shop and lounge and game areas.
North Campus Athletic Center (707 Mt. Cross Rd., Danville, Va.)
Located on 70 acres, Averett's North Campus is about a 10-minute drive from the
main campus. A shuttle bus service runs between the two campuses during class
hours.
The North Campus is anchored by the 55,863-square-foot E. Stuart James Grant Center.
One of the finest athletic facilities in the USA South Athletic Conference, the Grant
Center houses three basketball courts, a training room, a fitness facility, locker rooms
and classrooms. The Grant Center seats more than 1,600 for athletic events and as
many as 3,000 for graduations and other special events.
Surrounding the Grant Center are playing fields: baseball, softball, football/soccer
stadium and a practice field. Football team offices, locker rooms, film rooms
and a weight training area are available in the field house.
Aeronautics Center (Danville Regional Airport, 424 Airport Drive, Danville, VA)
The Averett Flight Center is located at the Danville Regional Airport, only four
miles from campus. The airport has two runways (one with ILS approach), an automated
weather system and UNICOM service. Averett's facility houses aircraft, areas
for ground instruction, a simulator room, a technology center and offices.
Equestrian Center (1231 Gammon Rd., Pelham, N.C.)
Averett's 100-acre Equestrian Center is a 15-minute drive from the main campus.
It houses an indoor ring, 40 stalls with removable partitions, three tack rooms,
a wash room, a breeding area, offices and a laboratory. The outdoor facilities
include a round pen, riding ring, jumping area, pastures and cross-country trails.
Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS)
Averett's GPS program has main campus centers in Danville, Richmond, and Chesapeake. Classes are also offered in more than 25 locations around Virginia.
