PRE-REGISTRATION PROCEDURES FOR SUMMER AND FALL 2007

All degree-seeking graduate and undergraduate students currently enrolled in traditional programs at Averett will pre-register for classes online with IQ Web.

Prior to the pre-registration period, all students will meet with their advisors to discuss their continued course of study and to select courses for the next term(s). At that time, the advisor will “authorize” IQ Web pre-registration.

Students will then pre-register online according to the following schedule:

  • 90+ credits: 8:00 a.m. March 16 to 8:00 a.m. March 19
  • 60-89 credits: 8:00 a.m. March 19 to 8:00 a.m. March 21
  • 30-59 credits: 8:00 a.m. March 21 to 8:00 a.m. March 23
  • 00-29 credits: 8:00 a.m. March 23 to 8:00 a.m. March 26

Graduate Students: Beginning at 8:00 a.m. March 16

Each registration group is based on credits earned prior to the current semester. If students miss their registration window above, they may still register on-line beginning March 26. Pre-registration will still be available to all currently enrolled students not on “business office hold” until the first day of each summer session and August 26 for fall. Students may add classes during this time but should be advised that there is an additional fee for more than 18 hours. Classes cannot be dropped on IQ Web. Please obtain a drop slip, signed by your advisor, and bring it to the Registrar’s Office.

If a “stop” message appears on IQ Web during pre-registration, a message will direct the student to the particular office where the “stop” may be removed.

ADVISING SCHEDULE APPROVAL CHECKLIST

Check course sections – NO IDEAL or I1, I2, etc.

Be sure prerequisites for courses are completed (see course descriptions by clicking magnifying glass next to course number in IQ Web). Watch especially for writing exam, acceptance to teacher education, get a C or better in BIO 101 to take 204/205.

  1. Is there an oral section of a course that the student should be enrolled in?
  2. If a course is cross-listed in two departments, is the student registered for the correct prefix?
  3. Will the schedule move student toward graduation in a timely manner?
  4. Schedule may NOT include more than two PE activity courses.
  5. Is it a full-time schedule?
  6. If a student is registering for more than eighteen hours:
    a. Remind them of extra fee
    b. Complete the permission for more than eighteen hours form and return to the Registrar’s Office
  7. Requests for independent studies must meet the criteria outlined on page 52 of the Averett Catalog and should be phoned in by the department chair to Dr. Fager or Dr. Wilburn.
  8. If an advisor agrees, a student may contact the instructor of a closed class for permission to take the class. An override slip must be completed by the instructor. This form can only be processed in the Registrar’s Office. This should be taken care of immediately to guarantee a place in the closed class.

Registration will be closed the week of July 2-6, 2007.
