The Political Science major provides a broad education in politics and government. Students gain a sound understanding of American government, other forms of government and the interactions among nations. The major acknowledges that "ideas have consequences" and, accordingly, emphasizes the appreciation of ancient and modern political thought.

In addition, students attain the speaking and writing skills necessary to work in the various occupations connected with politics.

Students will be prepared to work in:

• Government (local, state, or federal)
• Nonprofit sector
• Business
• Or for post-graduate study in law, public administration, hospital administration and business
