Melissa McCombs, Med, ATC-L
Head Athletic Trainer
Sports Covered: Football, Women’s Basketball, and Baseball

Melissa came to Averett University Athletic Training in August of 2002. She served as the assistant athletic trainer until May of 2004 when she was promoted to Head Athletic Trainer. Before coming to Averett University, she worked with Clemson Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation as a clinical outreach athletic trainer for one year. Melissa received her Master in Education from Clemson University in May of 2001 where she also served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for two years. While at Clemson, she worked with the Women’s Soccer team that made an appearance in the NCAA Elite 8 in 2000. Melissa received her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from California University of Pennsylvania in May of 1999. Melissa is engaged to Averett University Football assistant coach Jerry McCombs with a June wedding in their future. Melissa is married to Averett University Football Assistant Coach Jerry McCombs. Melissa enjoys running and spending time with her husband and her dog Dakota. The couple reside in Danville.
