About Averett

Averett University
Founded in 1859, Averett offers bachelor's and master's degrees in 32 major areas of study. The University's size provides an ideal learning environment with most classes having fewer than 25 students. This allows ample opportunity for students to ask questions and learn from faculty and their fellow students.

In the rich tradition of liberal arts, Averett encourages students to acknowledge the diversity of opinions and to grapple with important questions. The University's Christian environment welcomes a variety of viewpoints and challenges students to grow academically and spiritually.

Averett also welcomes a diverse student body. Last year, students traveled from 30 states and 14 foreign countries to attend Averett. This diversity enhances discussion of important issues and helps prepare students for life beyond college.

Location
Averett's main campus is located in a residential neighborhood adjacent to Danville, Virginia's famed Millionaires Row, a collection of vast Victorian homes recognized by historians for their architectural splendor. Nearby facilities include the University's athletic complex (North Campus), equestrian center and aeronautics facility. Working adults, who are studying in our nontraditional business and education degree programs, attend class at convenient locations throughout the state.
